Estimator

Full time

Position Summary:

The Estimator position will use drawings and renders to identify the items needing to be bid on while collaborating with the team to determine how these items will be built. Additionally, the Estimator will compose an estimate of time and materials for internal review, create a client quote based on estimates, and maintain communication with client through the bidding process. Furthermore, this position will include tracking and managing change orders and help communicate estimated expectations to the team. Travel duration and frequency may vary depending on project demands and business needs.

Reporting Relationship:

The Estimator will report to the General Manager.

What are the minimum requirements?

  • 2-5 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of custom fabrication/construction with hands-on experience.
  • Formal accredited education preferred.
  • Experience using a variety of materials including aluminum, wood, wood substrates, urethanes, epoxy, fiberglass, acrylic, vinyl, paints, and other materials.
  • Required travel to jobsites with overnight stays possible.
  • Thorough understanding of tools and techniques.
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.

What are the physical demands of the job?

  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time on a daily basis.
  • Must be able to kneel, bend, stoop, push/pull, crouch, and balance for lengthy periods of time on a daily basis.
  • Must be able to lift and carry in excess of 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to use hands for grasping and fine manipulation.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak with a positive attitude and the ability to recall, remember, and work well under stress for prolonged periods of time on a daily basis.

What skills will be valuable?

  • Ability and knowledge of custom fabrication/construction with hands-on experience.
  • Experience using a variety of materials.
  • Understanding of tools and fabrication techniques.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and estimator software.
  • Must be able to read and understand project plans and documents.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Has good common sense and the ability to problem solve.

  • Strong commitment to attendance and punctuality.
  • A good team player.
